Art is Living is a vibrant, immersive project that unfolded across three distinct yet interconnected branches: The Gallery, The Game, and The Exhibition. Together, they formed a playful and thought-provoking exploration of how art comes alive — not only in museums or on stage, but in movement, in interaction, and in shared space.
Art is Living: The Gallery
In The Gallery, a poetic dance performance, I portrayed a young girl visiting a museum with her mother, quietly taking in the sculptures — until the statues began to move. Slowly, silently, they came to life and began to play with her. What began as a typical museum visit became a magical experience, where stillness gave way to life and art reached out from the pedestal.
All of the costumes for the statues were handcrafted by the students themselves, giving the piece a rich visual texture and a sense of collaboration that extended beyond the stage. The performance invited the audience to imagine a world where art sees us too — and wants to dance.
Art is Living: The Game
The Game took a more absurd and participatory approach. In this interactive performance, we wore monochrome jumpsuits in bright, bold colors and became human art supplies. Visitors were invited to direct us, physically pose us, and use our bodies to recreate iconic paintings. The result was chaotic, hilarious, and oddly beautiful — a living, breathing version of art history where no two outcomes were ever the same. This piece broke the usual performer-audience barrier completely, transforming participants into artists and turning the performance into a playful, creative experiment.
Art is Living: The Exhibition
The final branch, The Exhibition, brought the energy and ideas of the performances into a more reflective space. Hosted at Op de Kier (Kronenstr. 38 53347 Alfter, Germany), the exhibition showcased paintings that were process-based reflections from both The Gallery and The Game.
